ZED talk by Shinjo Bert Lamsa

  • Mountain Rain Zen Community 2016 Wall Street Vancouver, B.C. Canada (map)

ZED (Zen Engaged Dharma) talks are short talks by sangha members about how they take their practice into the world, through work, art, activism, service, family life, etc., and how their practice supports them doing so.

Shinjo Bert Lamsa is a friend of Mountain Rain Zen who practices with Middle Way Zen in Victoria. He was born in Finland in 1948 and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1951. He grew up in Winnipeg and then settled on the west coast in Coast Salish territory where he developed an interest in Buddhism and activist politics. Having begun a formal Buddhist practice in the Vipassana tradition with Robert Beatty of The Portland Insight Meditation society in 1996 he then migrated to Zen, taking the precepts with Kate and Michael at MRZC in 2018. In recent years he returned to his activist roots by participating in Extinction Rebellion and Save Old Growth campaigns.

Part of our regular Wednesday evening practice schedule. Everyone welcome!
