Hungry Ghosts Ceremony (Sejiki)

  • Mountain Rain Zendo 2016 Wall Street Vancouver, BC, V5L 1J5 Canada (map)

The word sejiki means feeding the hungry ghosts, those beings whose insatiable desires keep them in a realm of torment, unable to practice the Buddha Way. In this ceremony we will make food offerings, symbolizing the nourishment of the Dharma, to the hungry ghost realm within ourselves and in the world. Costumes and masks are welcome, so that the hungry ghosts will not be too intimidated to join us.

Children are especially welcome to attend. The dharma talk will be child-friendly, with stories about the Bodhisattva Never-Despising and the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
