May all beings be happy: going deeper

  • Mountain Rain Zendo 2016 Wall Street Vancouver, BC, V5L 1J5 Canada (map)
May all beings be happy. May they be joyous and live in safety.

We chant these words in the Metta Sutta, and we use them when we practice loving-kindness and compassion meditation. But what is it we most deeply wish for ourselves and others? In this retreat we will inquire into this question and what it means to be happy in a world where there is so much suffering. We will explore how loving-kindness and compassion practices from other Buddhist traditions can both complement and be supported by Zen practice.

The retreat will include periods of zazen (sitting meditation), guided compassion practices, kinhin (walking meditation), dharma talks each day, and dokusan, individual meetings with the teacher.

Meals: Please bring a bag lunch on Saturday. The Saturday evening and Sunday noon meals will be provided.

Everyone welcome, whether you are new to Zen practice or experienced.

Myoshin Kate McCandless is co-guiding teacher of Mountain Rain Zen Community.

Schedule:   Saturday:  9:00 AM - 9: PM     Sunday  9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
