Lay entrustment is ceremonial expression of a Zen teacher's trust in a long-time lay student to teach and share the dharma with others. It has two parts: a private ceremony between teacher and student, and a public ceremony to acknowledge the entrustment and celebrate with the sangha.

Joko Claire Talbot, our shuso for the 2010 practice period, travelled to California recently for her private ceremony with Zoketsu Norman Fischer, Everyone is welcome to attend the public ceremony this Sunday.
