Hungry Ghosts Ceremony (Sejiki)

  • Mountain Rain Zendo (map)

The word sejiki means feeding the hungry ghosts, those beings whose insatiable desires keep them in a realm of torment, unable to practice the Buddha Way. In this ceremony we will make food offerings, symbolizing the nourishment of the Dharma, to the hungry ghost realm within ourselves and in the world. Costumes and masks are welcome, so that the hungry ghosts will not be too intimidated to join us.

And decorate your Covid mask, so that the hungry ghosts yearning for connection will know you care about them!

Two zazen periods, dharma talk, seijiki ceremony. Live at the zendo, and on Zoom.

We won’t have a Food Bank basket at the zendo this year, but please make a contribution wherever you shop for groceries. to support those in our own community who cannot afford good food.
