The Buddha-to-be, Siddartha Gautama was raised from infancy by his aunt and step-mother, Mahapajapati. She led what may have been the first women’s march of 500 women to appeal to the Buddha to be accepted into the sangha. With the Buddha’s atttendant, Ananda, as ally, she succeeded. We will commemorate her courage and determination today on International Women’s Day by re-telling her story and doing a ceremony of gratitude.
Part of our regular Wednesday practice schedule. Everyone welcome!
