Priest Ordination for Onsen Kōno & Roshin Yūdō

“I have felt an instinctive calling to be of spiritual service for most of my adult life. I was able to honour that calling on Sunday October 6. While on the path, and culminating with ordination, I have been astonished by the ocean of love washed over me from friends, family and sangha. It tells me that this boundless love is not about me as an individual, but for the committed path, the continuation of the dharma. How can I hold all that love? I just have to let that wave wash through me and out again to the world and all the beings I encounter. “

”I have always cherished the rituals of Zen and I feel honored and delighted to be entrusted with carrying them forward. For me right now, ordination seems to be about just stepping quietly into the light as a mirror for others. What I have to offer is a focus for people to reflect back their own feelings – around religion, spirituality, identity, authority, physicality, all that messy baggage. I am noticing how we are all one ever-changing organism that shifts with the light — and also, how difficult it is to get my wool toque off my velcro head, and how sensuous it feels to emerge from the pool and feel the streams cascading over my smooth dome. It is such a curious journey. I feel so fortunate to be able to engage in this unusual experiment, in the company of so many courageous souls.” Carmen Roshin Yūdō (Yoda) - Dewdrop Mind, Courageous Path
