This class is for those who are new to Soto Zen practice and those who have some experience and want to learn more. It will include:
- basic instructions in sitting and walking meditation
- a brief history of Buddhism
- Soto Zen in the context of Buddhism
- basic Zen forms and rituals
Please bring a bag lunch. Herbal tea will be provided.

Donations can be made on the day of the class, but we would appreciate knowing how many participants to expect, so please pre-register at registrar@mountainrainzen.org.
There will be an envelope for dana (donations) to the teachers.
Susan Elbe and Claire Talbot have each been practising in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition for fifteen years or more. Norman Fischer, founder of Everyday Zen Centre in California has been their primary teacher, but they have benefited from studying with several other teachers in both the Soto Zen and other Buddhist traditions. Claire lives and works in Vancouver, and Susan in Tsawassen.
