The Buddha-to-be, Siddartha Gautama was raised from infancy by his aunt and step-mother, Mahapajapati. She led the may have been the first women’s march of 500 women to appeal to the Buddha to be accepted into the sangha. With the Buddha’s atttendant, Ananda, as ally, she succeeded, and we commemorate her courage and determination today by re-telling her story and doing a ceremony of gratitude.
Part of our regular Sunday practice schedule. Everyone welcome!
